Vendor Spotlight: Orangerie Events

One of the things we hope to do in the future is spotlight some of our favorite event vendors that we work with from time to time. Each vendor we feature gets our seal of approval and has proven themselves as a worthy investment for your wedding or party!

In late 2011, I had the pleasure of working with Priscilla Erwin, owner of Orangerie Events, at the wedding of Cameron and Erin in downtown Raleigh. Priscilla has to be one of the most prepared, professional, and client-minded planners I have worked with in my career. (Plus, she brought me cake at the DJ table! Hint to other vendors: not a bad way to get some SE love!)

I sat down with Priscilla to get to know her a bit more. Check it out!

DJs: What society/friends/my mom think I do

I love the new fad going around Facebook where you post a series of images depicting the various societal misconceptions about you, your job, your community, etc. For example, the first one I saw was for my other profession – Youth Ministers.

I did a little searching for DJs – but none really captured the true misconceptions. So I decided to make one myself! And of course: no matter what society thinks – we rock your party!

Valentine’s @ Smith Middle | Chapel Hill, NC School Dance

One of my favorite schools to go to on a regular basis is Smith Middle in Carborro. They have been a client of my good friend and mentor Patrick Cooke at PC Productions for a long time and I regularly get to DJ for them in Patrick’s stead. (Pictures and Playlist below)

Seniors Sweetheart Dance | Raleigh, NC Private Party

So where’s the party on a Wednesday night? Well tonight the place to be was Sunrise Assisted Living in Raleigh for the 15th Annual Sweetheart’s Dance! The residents cut a rug with visiting family members and students from Enloe High School. There was no generation gap here and it looked like the residents had a blast dancing with the students and watching them do stuff like “The Electric Slide”, “Cha Cha Slide”, and “YMCA”.

Cameron & Erin | Raleigh, NC Wedding

Our last wedding of 2011 took place at the beautiful and rustic All Saints Chapel in downtown Raleigh.  Cameron is a high school friend and was always the funniest guy in the room. Erin, as I found out at our pre-wedding consultation, was truly his equal. (She definitely balances Cameron’s personality with her grace and wit!) So needless to say, I was looking forward to an evening with old friends and new acquaintances.

Charles & Jillian | Garner, NC Wedding

Charles & Jillian are easily one of my favorite couples that I’ve gotten to work with this year! The two planned an elegant, yet fun day at The Grand Marquise Ballroom in Garner, NC. First, they had a short but meaningful ceremony on the steps of the ballroom.

Charles & Lindsay | Raleigh, NC Wedding

We were headed to Artspace in downtown Raleigh for Charles & Lindsay’s big day! Normally, the venue hosts more paintings and sculptures than party people – but Gallery 2 served for a cool and classy reception atmosphere.

Tom & Tracy | Asheville, NC Wedding

I can’t think of a better location for a fall wedding that the mountains of North Carolina. More specifically, Asheville’s Crest Center & Pavilion. That’s where we were for Tom & Tracy’s nuptials this past weekend. I was especially looking forward to making a weekend of the trip with my good friends Thad & Sarah Lawrence (2&3 Photography), who provided photography services for Tom & Tracy (and are responsible for the images in this post).

Sam & Jessie | Winston Salem, NC Wedding

A dark and dreary weekend opened up to picture perfect weather and an evening to remember for Sam & Jessica Kees. Both the wedding ceremony and reception took place at the Salem Glen Country Club in Winston-Salem, NC. We provided music and microphones for the ceremony out on the back patio of the club house. Jessie picked out a beautiful mix of classical music and traditional wedding compositions, including the moving “Storybook Love” from the Princess Bride soundtrack.
