Sam & Jessie | Winston Salem, NC Wedding

A dark and dreary weekend opened up to picture perfect weather and an evening to remember for Sam & Jessica Kees. Both the wedding ceremony and reception took place at the Salem Glen Country Club in Winston-Salem, NC. We provided music and microphones for the ceremony out on the back patio of the club house. Jessie picked out a beautiful mix of classical music and traditional wedding compositions, including the moving “Storybook Love” from the Princess Bride soundtrack.

After the guests migrated inside, I introduced the bridal party with Chris Brown’s “Forever” and Jessica’s father welcomed everyone and thanked them for being there to celebrate. Everyone then made their way through the buffet line while the bride and groom mingled. The newlyweds first dance was to Landon Pigg’s “Falling In Love In A Coffee Shop”, followed by the Father/Daughter dance to Fleetwood Mac’s version of “Landslide” and the Mother/Son dance to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts.

Following the dances, they fed each other cupcakes (an alternate take on cake cutting that is growing more popular) before joining the rest of the married couples for a special dance to Marc Cohn’s “True Companion”. During the dance we slowly eliminated the couples by the least amount of time they have been married until we got down to our winning duo – who have been married 53 years!

After a quick dress change, (the bride…not the DJ) we spent the rest of the night partying it up! All ages got involved at some point. We started off with classics like “The Twist”, “Jailhouse Rock”, “Brown Eyed Girl”, and “Brick House” before punching up the tempo with hits like “Party Rock Anthem”, “Low”, “Don’t Stop The Party” and “Jump Around”.

Another thing I was looking forward to was working with my good friends Thad and Sarah Lawrence from 2&3 Photography. (All pictures featured in this post are their work) In my (pretty much expert) opinion, they are some of the best in the biz! Sam & Jessie took advantage of our special offer and got 10% off both our DJ services and their photography by booking us both. During the dancing portion of the night, 2&3 had a photo booth open where the guests could take all kinds of crazy party pics with the bride & groom or each other. We ended the night with “Time of My Life” from the Dirty Dancing Soundtrack and sent Mr. & Mrs. Kees off into their happily ever after! Thanks to the Kees & Kaplan families for letting me help you celebrate! – Ben
